Research 1.

So after looking at these book covers I began to research the different artists and came across Nancy Ekholm Burkert. She was the original artist employed to illustrate the first edition of the novel.

Nancy Ekholm Burkert is an american born artist and illustrator who has captured the hearts of children and adults alike with her renditions of childrens novels and films like with James and the giant Peach and Snow white and the 7 dwarfs in 1972. 

Her style of art demonstrates a comand of shading and texture through pencil and charcole combined with mixed elements of water colour and inks. I like using combined materials in my work and love to overlay my sketches with ink or in some case pen so I think this element of her work is useful to my research.
